Markham, ON - The ridge of high pressure over the US had powered us with some of the warmest air in weeks. It was gorgeous out today all across Southern Ontario with a daytime high of 14 and a mainly sunny skies. Well, the big question is, is it going to last? I can tell you one thing for sure: no, it is not going to last. A system now over northwestern Ontario is going to pass through southern Ontario tomorrow. With this system, there are two sets of cold fronts, meaning much cooler temperature behind the cold fronts. The prairies, after experiencing this system, sees strong northwesterly winds today, up to 80 km/h gust is possible in the areas, and of course, the local temperature fell like a stone.
Back to Southern Ontario, when this system pass, it will bring us 2 bursts of precipitation from each set of cold fronts. The first set should fall as light showers and mist at around, I'd say 9 to 10 in tomorrow morning. This will be followed by a sunny break with a daily high of 15, still a strong gust of southernly wind warming things up. Then, the second set of cold front comes in, slightly heavier precipitation, around tomorrow's supper time to midnight. Northwesterly winds settle and temperature should start to drop to an overnight low of 0.
It is expected for the rest of the week that the daily high will stay in the range between 2 to 6 in Southern Ontario.
