Turn on that Lake Effect Machine

Markham, ON - Well, we've seen the 2 sets of cold fronts past through, and I believe that Torontonians are now experiencing the cold when they are walking on the streets. With the strong gusty wind of 31 km/h recorded earlier at Markham Weather Centre, the wind chill feels more like -1.5C. With such cold winds coming off from Lake Huron and Georgian Bay, and the lake waters are still quite warm, you know what that means? The Lake Effect Machine will turn on. In fact, the output this time is so strong, that some of the snow bands may get to Toronto. Though recent radar suggests a wind down of this machine is ongoing... we'll see the results tomorrow.

Environment Canada had issued Snowsqualls warnings to Dufferin, Simcoe, Grey, Bruce, Perth, Huron, Oxford, Brant, and Middlesex Counties, as well as the City of London. The area could see up to 10 cm of snow in the next 18 hours or so.

Here is the snowfall expectation from Nicholas across Southern Ontario:
-Toronto - Trace to 1 cm
-Southern York Region (Markham) - 1 to 3 cm
-Northern York Region (Newmarket) - 1 to 4 cm
-Southern Simcoe County (Barrie) - 3 to 10 cm
-Northern Simcoe County (Midland) - 5 to 15 cm
-Muskoka (Huntsville) - Trace to 5 cm
-Parry Sound - Trace to 5 cm
-Grey County (Owen Sound) - 5 to 12 cm
-Bruce County (Tobermory) - 5 to 15 cm
-Huron County - 5 to 10 cm
-Perth County (Stratford) - 5 to 10 cm
-Middlesex County (Middlesex Centre) - 5 to 15 cm
-London - 5 to 12 cm
-Oxford County - 3 to 8 cm
-Brant County (Brantford) - 2 to 6 cm
-Waterloo Region (Kitchener) - 2 to 4 cm
-Peel/Halton Regions (Mississauga; Burlington) - Trace to 1 cm
-Hamilton (Stoney Creek) - No Accumulation to 1 cm
-Niagara/Haldimand (St. Catharines; Simcoe) - 1 to 10 cm

NEW! (Updated 18:23 EST) GTA's temperature is now falling at an amazing rate... with temp falling rate at about 1.2 C per hour, and a dewpoint of 0 C... very favourable for snowsqualls!

Chicoutimi-Jonquière, QC - As the two sets of cold front moves away, the system brings follow-up precipitation. Near the Saguenay, Quebec City, Rimouski, and area, the temperature is cold enough for the precipitation to fall in forms of snow. Upwards to 20 cm is possible, while New Brunswick will see a predominant mix of upwards to 5 cm of snow since the local temperature is still quite warm to sustain a mix.
