Markham, ON - We've made it to the line! The first unofficial snowflake of the season fell yesterday night at 10:46 pm. And since then, it had been snowing up to 3 am. This morning, Markham reported a snowfall amount of about 1 to 2 cm, while the City of Toronto receives practically no snow!
Now, another threat of snow is coming... An Alberta Clipper that is just off Thunder Bay, Ontario right now will pass through the GTA on Thursday and possibly on Friday as well. The clipper has weak energy, and thus no worries of big storms. Ahead of the system, we may see some snowfall, and during Thursday night to Friday morning, the GTA may experience another snow "wave". Little accumulation is expected with the system.
Halifax, NS - The Maritimes are not lucky (or very lucky) this weekend. The Alberta Clipper that will pass through Southern Ontario on Thursday will move to the Atlantic Seaboard on Friday night. As it moves over the ocean, the jet stream upper level energy and the moisture supports the system. It is potentially hitting Halifax on Saturday or Sunday. The Maritime Provinces may see a lot of snow, rain, sleet, you name it. Up to 15 cm is possible in some locations, while other locations may not see snow at all.
