Markham, ON - The very first snowsqualls of the season is finally here! Today, a low pressure system moved through the GTA, bringing pesky (not to mention gusty) northwesterly winds into the area. While the Great Lakes are still very warm, there is a great chance that snowsqualls will develop. Looking closely to our current temperature, as it is falling rapidly, it is likely (if there is a precip. band passing by) that our first snowflake of the season will fall around 9 to 10 pm. We are expecting snow for areas north to Huntsville, east to Peterborough, south to North York, and west to Goderich (and maybe even beyond...) will see snowfall.
Here's the expected snow fall amounts:
Southern York Region (Markham) - 1 to 2 cm
Northern York Region (Newmarket) - 2 to 4 cm
Southern Simcoe County (Barrie) - 2 to 4 cm
Northern Simcoe County (Midland) - 3 to 5 cm
Muskoka District (Huntsville) - 1 to 4 cm
Dufferin County (Orangeville) - 2 to 4 cm
Bruce County (Owen Sound) - 2 to 6 cm
London and Area (Stratford) - 3 to 6 cm
Waterloo Region (Kitchener) - 1 to 3 cm
Goderich; Kincardine - 2 to 4 cm
Northern Toronto (North York) - Trace to 2 cm
Southern Toronto (Downtown) - No snowfall to Trace
I will closely monitor the snowsqualls throughout the night.
