Regina, SK - After a long period of spring, winter and the arctic air finally made its way back to the prairies. A surge of arctic air, following a polar front from an Alberta Clipper, had made the mercury to drop to a "January Daytime High" across the prairies. Contrary to what we have been seeing (positive single to double digits in terms of temperature-wise), the daytime high across the prairies was unseasonably low. Winnipeg only hit -13 C, Regina hit -8 C, and Saskatoon even colder as a daytime high for the first day in March.
Accompanying the cold air, widespread snow is also resulted. Strong winds had also cause some uncomfortable wind chills, at around the -20s range.
